i was a regular customer and loved Jo's Sushi. I was a customer for many, many years. Tip for everyone who misses his sushi. Jo's first location was located at 150 Longbrook Way, Suite C, in Pleasant Hill. He sold that place to someone and it's called "Jo's Honda Sushi" or "Honda Sushi". Anyway, he mentored the owner and that owner was allowed to keep the exact same menu. So, give it a try... It's been a long time since I tried it (I moved out of the Bay Area) but it was very good and where we dined until Jo could set up his second & last location.
SO so sad, we have been clients for well over 20 years. Now I must find a new sushi place but I know I will in time. Positive is I won't be dipping into my children's college funds any more for fish. Has anyone found an amazing alternative?
Struggled a bit with how to review this here. On one hand, the quality of the fish is clearly head and shoulders above your average sushi restaurant. It's outstanding quality. On the other hand, the prices definitely reflect it. It's like $9.95 for a regular little tekka roll, for example, compared to like $5-7 anywhere else. I wish I had been better warned ahead of time; Yelp's "$$" price guide is DEFINITELY wrong. They've taken the "combination dinners" off the menu, which they have a sign about ("due to short-staffing") as well as apparently all the teriyaki and similar grilled entrees (which there is no sign about). I also wouldn't recommend the tempura- Yelp photos showing the fluffy panko style are now out of date and they're now using the heavier like carnival-fried-food style. Updated photo attached. TL;DR: stick with the fish, probably special occasions only or when you want to impress an out-of-town guest.
Met up with my friends for dinner at Jo's Sushi. This was my first time here and really enjoyed their outdoor seating and of course, their food! We ordered the maguro, hamachi, sake nigiri, Volcano Roll, Rock 'n Roll, and Bubba Gump Roll. Everything was fresh and delish, and customer service was friendly and attentive! Would recommend checking Jo's Sushi out if you're in the area and craving some yummy sushi!
Finally was able to have dinner Saturday 8/14 w/o Appointment in which I forgot BC of Pandemic, I was there Friday exactly 8pm wasn't aware of the cut off hrs. but happily came back Sat. & experienced the freshness of sashimi . My friend recommend me this place BC of the authentic Japanese preparation of the food and it's only opened @ Tue/Fri 5-8 pm open on Saturday too MUST MAKE RESERVATION and double check the hours with them CLOSED ON SUNDAY & MONDAY NO LUNCH , they have outdoor & Lmtd. indoor capacity . This place is AMAZING. The food is fantastic and the value is excellent. The service shines. We had been here PP (pre-pandemic) and thouroghly enjoyed our Dining experience. We tried the "new normal" outdoor dining last night. As good as one could expect for a temporary set up. Even a nice fire pit in the center of the well ventilated tent. My wife loves Sushi and she had such a fresh and amazing assortment that she "died and went to heaven..." I got a Teriyaki combo that included the lightest prawns I have ever had. Delicious. As per our previous experience a couple of years ago, the food was outstanding, very reasonably priced and the service was excellent. Worth the drive from anywhere in Contra Costa County!
Jo's sushi is fantastic!! My husband and I are sushi fanatics and can easily say the quality of the sushi is the best here even better than some fancy sf restaurants. Take out order was ready right on time and packaged very well. I was impressed the chirashi was packaged separately from the rice so you could warm up the rice for 10 seconds to get the best taste of the chirashi bowl. We did order some nigiri: Suzuki (sea bass), seared scallops and anago (special) everything was so good! I highly recommend this place and will be coming back again
They JUST OPENED their outdoor dining as of 8/11/2020. Space is very limited so call for reservations. As always, their food is top notch and service is traditional Japanese over the top awesome!
Honestly, I'd eat here everyday. Super fresh fish. You get what you pay for. Look no further. 10/10. Been eating here for 10+ years now. Have tried other sushi place here and there but there's no place compare to Jo's Sushi! Jo's sushi numba wan!! Support your local restaurant!
